Appeasement in a political context is a diplomatic policy of

On April 21st 2019, Easter Sunday, three Christian
churches in Sri Lanka & three luxury hotels in the commercial capital
Colombo were targeted in a series of coordinated suicide terrorist bombings. In
these as over 250 people were killed and 500 more were injured in this
terrifying terror attack.
But as per reports what baffles me that there had been clear
intels to Sri Lanka from Indian intelligence agencies of a possible suicide
bombings in the capital, but this was totally rebuked by the Sri Lankan
officials as they thought that New Delhi was trying to create a rift with its
so called cordial relations with Islamabad. They refused to pay heed to the
India’s alert which was sounded clear intels of a certain terrorist attack on
Easter Sunday. According to the Sri Lankan officials who have been sacked
following the incident, India is trying to instigate Colombo against Islamabad
by proposing counter terror operations among its minority muslim community.
Sri Lanka has been maintaining a very cordial relation with Pakistan
since decades. It’s a known fact that ISI has gained a very severe ground in
the Island along through the Pakistan high commission during the Sri Lankan
Civil War to crush the LTTE. ISI had been allegedly recruiting the minority
community in Sri Lanka
The Lankan Government has been warned in the last couple of
years to crack down against the extremist elements but it seems the political
leadership did not have the spine to conduct the crackdown owing to alienation
of the community at large. According to sources Lankan officials were extremely
watchful as such a move could pit the the majority Buddhists against the minority
Muslims which could disturb the communal harmony of the island nation.
We have learned from sources that India had provided very specific inputs to Lanka about the attacks, which includes the name of perpetrators, their modus operandi and more importantly the terrorists’ movements along with the places they were about to target.
So what do we understand from this the government just to appease a few 100 people have put the majority of the people at risk. This is one of the recent events. If we rewind to 2015-16 Europe faced its worst refugee crisis as the whole of Muslim population in the West bank, North Africa, Syria, Iraq and so on crossed borders and settled in western European nations like Germany, Sweden, France, UK, Belgium, Amsterdam and so on. How can we forget the New Year’s Eve at cologne, Germany in December 2015 which saw horrific rapes and looting done by those thugs who had migrated to a foreign land which bought the first cases of “Taharrush” – The horrific Arab Rape Game into the western world forthe first time in many years. All these happened because of the ruling government’s extra sympathy and support to the so called “rape-fugees”. This has given rise to Right wing groups fighting for the nationalism and their true identity as Germans.
President Trump is popular among the American public because for him nation comes first and there is no place for appeasement at any cost. Certain decisions have been hard to comply but for the collective good for the nation certain hard steps need to be taken and moreover its essential. The decision of building a wall on the Mexican border is one such step which was taken owing to rising crime rates and drug trade from across the border. The policy of “America First” has caught the imagination of millions of Americans and hence I surely feel he is in for a second term as a president.
Appeasement politics are ruling the roost in India for decades since independence which has given rise to so many divisions in terms to caste, creed etc. Politicians have played this card since ages and have really taken our population for a ride. Who can really forget what happened in 1988 when our then PM Shri VP Singh declared the Mandal commission legal and passed the bill just to make his position secure. The repercussions of this are still felt among the masses here at large. Let’s not forget what happened in Mumbai 26/11 Attacks where terrorists held the commercial capital to ransom. A decisive action could have been possible but the political leadership never wanted to engage with the perpetrators and 100’s of innocent lives were lost owing this. This is an absolute product of appeasement politics as any action if taken could have had an adverse effect in their political alliances.
Politicians have started promoting caste based campaigns to appease their electorates. These people can never get our country towards the map of development. Off late nationalism has given rise to people being more informed about the issues that the country is suffering since ages and majorly youth are taking the mantle of development of the country more seriously and working towards set goals.
We need strong leaders who could take bold steps, up the
ante in national security and more importantly work more on inclusive
development and the current government under PM Narendra Modi is making that
happen. India as a country has changed a lot in the last 5 years and this
evident from its enormous leap in the areas of FDI, technological innovations
in public utilities and the use of social media to resolve customer issues
& improving customer satisfaction. The URI surgical strike is one such
instance where our ruling government took a very decisive action against the
perpetrators who attacked and killed 19 of our Indian soldiers at the army base
camp of URI in the Jammu & Kashmir state of India
So what I believe is that Right wing is the correct way forward for the progress of a particular country. Appeasement politics according to me must be laid to rest as it just is arresting the growth chart of a particular country at large. Appeasement leads to reservation and for the development of country, “ We Need the Deserved Not the Reserved”.
